The Korean 15-a-side rugby team will play its first match at home against Malaysia in the 2024 Asia Rugby Championship.

Korea Rugby Association announced on the 30th that it will hold the first match against Malaysia at Incheon Namdong Stadium at 2 p.m. on the 2nd of next month.

The national team will play the second away game against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Dubai at 0:30 a.m. on the 9th of next month, Korean time, and then play the final match against Asia’s strongest team, Hong Kong, at Happy Valley Stadium in Hong Kong at 5:30 p.m. on the 22nd.

This tournament, in which Hong Kong, Malaysia, and the UAE participate, will determine the winning team based on full league performance without a separate tournament.

This competition, hosted by the Asian Rugby Federation, has been held as the Asian Rugby Championship since 1969, and was changed to the current competition in 2015.

Korea has won the predecessor Asian Rugby Championship a total of five times, starting in 1982, in 1986, 1988, 1990, and 2002.

Last year, he took second place.

In the final match of the tournament held on June 18 of that year, they lost 10-30 to Hong Kong, giving the championship trophy to Hong Kong.

The Korea Rugby Association plans to begin preparing in earnest for next year’s Asian Rugby Championship, where qualification for the 2027 Rugby World Cup finals is at stake.
