Tottenham have found a partner for Son Heung-min. The player is from Enze Postecoglou’s home country of Australia.
Tottenham are preparing to make a move for Thomas Worthingham, according to Football Insider.
In the upcoming summer transfer window, Spurs are looking to fill the void left by Harry Kane, who left the club before the start of the season. Despite the performances of Son Heung-min and the likes of the Frenchman, it’s been difficult to fully fill the void left by Kane, so this is a signing that could have a major impact on next season.
There are several names on Tottenham’s shopping list. Dominic Solanke, Santiago Jimenez, Ivan Toney, and Joshua Giroud are just a few of the promising attackers that Spurs have been linked with.
But Postecoglou had his sights set elsewhere. He is considering a youngster who is playing in his native Australian league as a possible striker reinforcement.
Football Insider reports that ‘Tottenham have made a move for Australian supernova Thomas Worthingham. Worthingham is having an impressive season for Brisbane Roar in the Australian A-League. He has attracted interest from big clubs across Europe. Bundesliga teams are also interested in Worthingham, with Tottenham leading the race among English Premier League (EPL) clubs.
Born in 2005, striker Worthingham made his professional debut for Brisbane Roar after coming through the youth ranks. Despite his young age, Worthingham has already shown enough in the A-League to attract European interest. He has already scored 10 goals and provided one assist in 27 official games this season. His profile could suit Tottenham, who are in need of a long-term alternative up front.
The Brisbane Roar is a team that Postecoglou coached from 2009 to 2012. During that time, Postecoglu led the Brisbane Roar to the 2010-2011 league championship. Brisbane Roar is also the team that former Indonesian national team coach Shin Tae-yong played 토토 for in 2005. The team was called the Queensland Roar when Shin was playing, and he spent three years coaching after his retirement. Worthingham was born the same year Shin joined the club.
‘Postecoglou could meet with Tottenham hierarchy to approve the move after hearing reports about Worthingham from those watching the A-League,’ Football Insider reported. The interest in Worthingham is likely to continue to grow if his performances continue in Brisbane.
Postecoglou is keeping a close eye on his countryman as a potential striker. Whether Worthingham could join Tottenham will be of great interest to fans this summer.
