James Maddison has revealed that he is building a good relationship with Son Heung-min.
Maddison joined Tottenham Hotspur from Leicester City in the summer transfer window. Tottenham had been looking for a creative, passing attacking midfielder ever since Christian Eriksen left the club, and Maddison fits the bill. Already one of the top attacking midfielders in the Premier League (PL), Maddison was expected to give Spurs an immediate boost.
He hasn’t disappointed. After settling into the team’s second line in preseason, he quickly emerged as the new centerpiece of Spurs’ offense once the regular season began. His role in the center of the second line has been to link up the attack, and on set pieces, he’s added a sharpness that Spurs have been lacking. His presence in the center of the secondary has allowed Spurs to be more precise in their passing. In his short time with the team, he has made an impact.
His new partner, Son Heung-min, has also been good. Their chemistry was at its peak in the last game against Arsenal. Tottenham equalized twice in the North London derby against the Gunners by fighting back from a goal down, with both goals coming from a combined effort between Maddison and Son.
In the closing minutes of the first half, Son rattled the net with a sensational strike from a loose ball after Maddison stripped the defense on the flank, and early in the second half, Maddison once again split the Arsenal goal with a half-beat quick shot after pressuring Jorginho to win the ball and play a pass to Son. Tottenham were able to come away from the trip to Arsenal with a point thanks to the performances of both players.
Against Arsenal, we saw why we should be excited about their partnership. Maddison seems to be getting to understand Son Heung-min. Tottenham fan community Spurs Web highlighted Maddison’s interview, saying, “Maddison said his partnership with Son is still a work in progress, but he said he’s starting to get a clearer understanding of Son’s goal scoring style.”
“In the last few weeks, Son has moved more centrally,” Maddison told ViaPlay. I want to have a good relationship with the striker. He’s a really 카지노 nice guy, so he helps me off the pitch. We are working on our chemistry in training. It’s still early days, so we’re still getting to know each other. But I’m starting to get to know what he likes and how he moves. I hope this can continue.”
