Jeon Woong-tae and others advance to Hangzhou AG men’s modern pentathlon final

24th Men’s and Women’s Individual and Team Finals

All four members of the men’s modern pentathlon team at the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games have reached the finals.

Jeon Woong-tae (Gwangju Metropolitan Government) scored 1146 points in the men’s modern pentathlon semifinal Group A at the Games at the Fuyang Throat Sports Center in Hangzhou, China, 한국야동 on Wednesday.

He finished third out of 15 athletes in Group A to advance to the final.

The pentathlon, which combines fencing, swimming, equestrian and laser run (athletics + shooting), cuts the field to 18 athletes based on points from the semifinals held following the fencing ranking round on the first day.

On the men’s side, 18 of the 29 athletes have been confirmed for the final.

Jung Jin-hwa (LH), who competed in Group A of the men’s semifinals alongside Jeon Woong-tae, finished fifth with 1127 points and qualified for the final.

In the next semifinal, Men’s Group B, 성인웹툰 Seo Chang-wan (Jeonnam-do) and Lee Ji-hoon (LH) finished second and third in the group with 1137 points to advance to the final.

The men’s and women’s individual and team finals of the pentathlon will be held on Thursday.

Korea’s Jeon Woong-tae will try to win his second consecutive men’s individual title after the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Games.

Kim Sun-woo (Gyeonggi-do), Kim Se-hee (BNK Savings Bank), Sung Seung-min (Korea Gymnastics University) and Jang Ha-eun (LH) will compete in the women’s final, which did not feature a semifinal due to a full field of 19 athletes. 19가이드03
