A game-winning hit is literally the one that decides the game, so there can only be one per game.
However, LG Twins’ Moon Bo-kyung had the unique experience of hitting two game-winning hits in one day on July 17.
As LG played a doubleheader against SSG Landers at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul, Moon batted third and sixth in the first and second games, respectively, and was responsible for both game-winning hits.
In the first game, Moon hit a three-run double to left field in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie the game at 3-3, and a come-from-behind double in the bottom of the third inning to tie the game at 2-2.
In the two games, Moon went 6-for-9 with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored. His season batting average increased from 0.299 to 0.306 (447-for-137).
LG won Game 1 and Game 2 8-3 and 9-5, respectively, with Moon leading the way, extending its winning streak to four games and taking the league lead.
After the game, Moon said, “I’m happy to help the team go on a winning streak,” adding, “It was a little tough physically, but I tried to stay focused and bat until the end.”
Technically, she said, “I’ve been changing my hand release point a little bit (lately), and it’s fine because it takes less effort. I’ve been doing it since practice, and I think it’s good.”
Moon has been weak against SSG left-hander Kim Kwang-hyun this season, going 1-for-8, but she managed to get a single to right in her second at-bat of the fourth inning of Game 1.
“I knew I had a bad record against him, so I tried to be more cautious and wanted to make sure I hit it,” Moon said, adding, “I don’t think my hitting has been bad lately, so I came to the plate confidently.”
“His fastball and changeup were both good, but I think I got a little bit luckier today,” he said of his two hits, including the game-winning double off Kirk McCarty in Game 2. “I had a good pitch and it led to a long ball,” he added. 안전놀이터
